The Westland public
and administrative centre is build on the Verdilaan, while an office
building for employees is realized on the Tiendweg. The new council accommodation is
sustainable and will increase the quality and efficiency of the services.
cepezed has used
the metaphor of the greenhouse for the designs, creating an attractive, modest
streetscape on the outside with colour, life and innovative design solutions
taking shape on the inside. The organization of both buildings is in essence
the same. The point of departure is a generic system of office bays that house
the various functions and are built up functionally and efficiently as a basic
approach. These freely adaptable floors are perfectly suited to ‘contemporary
The counter serving the public and businesspeople is housed in the public and administrative centre on the Verdilaan. This is the political heart of the municipality where the council meetings and committee meetings are held. These functions are situated in the wooden administrative ‘piece of furniture’ with extra-high storeys. The transparent façade positions the ‘furniture’ literally on the pulbic square, which makes visitors feel welcome. The council office for staff is business-like on the outside and extremely inviting and elegant on the inside. The building comprises two office bays with a beautiful, high and light atrium in between. It’s an inspiring working environment where encounters and sharing knowledge play a central role.
